Sat 21 Nov
Sat I went to work and it was the day I was finally going to get to graft!!! I practiced the night before and this morning and I felt that I was as ready as I could be. Omar and I walked to the Vivero and selected 7 grape fruit trees. He first demonstrated how to do the whole process, and then it was my turn. I first selected the part of the tree that I wanted to cut to graft, and then I cut the top off of that. I then slowly took my knife and made a cut down the middle of the tree. When that was ready I took the branch I was going to put into the tree and cut it till it fit in the space where I cut the tree. After checking with Omar to see if everything was going well, I then put the branch into the tree and then proceeded with wrapping the section of the tree with plastic. The plastic holds the tree and the branch together and then the sun heats it up to help the branch grow into the tree. After work, I chilled at home for a bit, and then went up to the campus to chill with some friends. Later that night I went to Maurois house to eat some food that she made from Serbia. After that the group that I was with jammed and sang. Once the jam session was over, I decided to go home and go to bed.
